ISCD Welcomes Elsevier to the Journal of Clinical Densitometry
Article Outline
As of January 1, 2006, the Journal of Clinical Densitometry (JCD) has a new publisher—Elsevier. We at the editorial office along with the International Society for Clinical Densitometry membership welcome Elsevier for the 2006 and 9th volume of the JCD.
A word of thanks must go to a few ISCD members, the ISCD staff and management company Association Resources (AR), and the JCD's Managing Editor, Linda Miller, for making this all happen. Their efforts brought us to Elsevier and the implementation of a new electronic submission and review process. Without the very hard work of Drs. Ed Leib, John Bilezikian, Robert Downs, Nelson Watts, Michael Lewiecki , Diane Schneider, and Marty Rotblatt, ISCD's Associate Director, this transition would never have been a reality.
The JCD will now seek more excellence in publishing carefully written review articles and we will strive to widen our aims and scopes of published articles. While the JCD will still emphasize the publication of peer-reviewed articles on bone mass measurements, we will broaden our vision to welcome submission of articles that examine newer techniques to measure bone quality and bone strength; as well as articles on how pharmacological interventions may improve bone strength through traditional as well as evolving bone measurement techniques. The JCD will continue to be the anchor for the publication of the internationally acknowledged Position Development Conferences and their resulting Official Positions. These positions lead the clinical field into exploration of new ideas and concepts that impact the practical clinical management of osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases.
There will be changes in the Editorial Board structure. Editorial Board members will be required to be active ISCD members, a step that demonstrates commitment to the JCD and ISCD. We will begin staggered terms. The 3-year Editorial Board commitment will have one-third of its members rotating off the board every year, a portion remaining on beyond three years, and a portion (one-third) of new Editorial Board members joining the board every year. This way we can say thanks for those who after three years want to move on to other obligations, retain those who want to be retained, and get new and eager board members to help expand the ideas of new directions for the JCD.
In the meantime, we welcome Elsevier and we here in the JCD Editorial office look forward to a much more efficient and timely process of submission and review.
Thanks to Everyone.
